Subaru Impreza WRX and STI – Rubber Burners
Cars | November 1, 2010Subaru Impreza WRX STI is a sport tuned version of Impreza, was first manufactured for the Japanese market and then was made to see the land of New Zealand, Europe and Australia. WRX was installed with turbochargers, wide low profile tires, large brakes and firm sport tuned suspension, all of the features were lacking in the base Impreza.
It was 2002 when WRX started burning its rubber on North American streets.
Subaru in the US is considered as a four wheeled performing capsule. The most liked feature of the tuner is its handling thanks to its wider wheels and larger brakes. Handling is just a dream for any drifter. All of these features are brought out of a small affordable car Impreza. The WXR is factory tuned, which comes equipped with performance parts that makes the car to qualify for rally racing. These performance models are offered in two trims the base WXR and more capable WRX STI. The STI takes the performance to next level and so much of power can only be handled by serious driving enthusiasts.
Both the trims are offered in two body styles a four door sedan and a five door hatchback. If you are thinking to stop on a WRX than the base model is enough and has it all what it needs to thrill. The STI cost more than the base and is overpowered, so much of power can be handled only by race track drivers or those who do with their car that most of the drivers won’t even think of doing it.

Under the hood of these, factory tuned performers’ lies a 2.5 liter turbo charged four cylinder Boxer engine that throws out 265 horsepower and 244 lb ft of torque. The STI trim is powered with same engine displacement but is super tuned and generates 305 horsepower and churns out 290 lb ft of torque. The WRX is paired to a five speed manual transmission- fully synchronized and a six speed manual transmission- close ratio is mated on Subaru Impreza WRX STI.
The STI is rated high performer because it is equipped with Subaru Intelligent Drive, system where the driver can make the car run on three performance modes and also can tune its electronically controlled throttle.
Subaru has well employed performance tuned suspension that runs independently. Both of the trims are equipped with ABS and electronic brake force distribution system, the STI package features Brembo performance brakes, TCS Traction Control System and VDC Vehicle Dynamic System. All of the WRX comes equipped with Continuous All Wheel Drive system exclusive from Subaru, which helps in perfectly distributing torque among front and rear wheels.
No words can define the power from the Impreza WRX; one can visit the Ken Block Gymkhana page on Youtube and see the Subaru Impreza STI in real action.
