Subaru BRZ and Toyota FT-86 Ready for Introduction at Tokyo Motor Show

Subaru and Toyota’s jointly built BRZ and FT-86 coupes will be introduced at the famous Tokyo Motor Show which will be held next month. Both these models share the similar chassis, flat – four engine of Subaru and gearbox, but these respective coupes will vary in its position in the wide automobile market.

These versions also have optional 6 – speed automatic transmission, exterior styling, most mechanical parts, and limited slip differential. The FT – 86 model of Toyota will target to lure driving enthusiasts into its low – powered but dynamically focused coupe along with the concept similar to that of the real Corolla AE – 86.

With 200 bhp of maximum energy and weighing only 1,100 kg, more than 200 kg lighter than a Volkwagen Scirocco. The appearance of the FT – 86 set to surpass coupe – come – small hatchback of VW. Cost at about £20,000 it will undercut VW by nearly £10,000.

As per the reports by Autocar, the BRZ model of Subaru will be extra powerful however, thought to be generating under 300 bhp. The cost of this BRZ roadster is about £5,000 over the FT-86 when both models finally go on sale. Well known for its pedigree rallying, this Japanese firm has recently supported that it will not be the 4 – wheel drive BRZ version.

In fact, Subaru may have ruled out the convertible version of the BRZ as well. As for the additional version of this model, Subaru says that there will be no convertible or turbo. Toyota is looking for development on additional sport models and even, there is a possibility for a new Supra revival. Both versions are expected to go on sale in the United Kingdom next summer. The FT-86 will be the serious driving prospect and will have the strength to hinder more expensive machinery.
