Ford’s 3 valve, 6.8-liter Triton V-10 is currently one of our favorite amongst gasoline engines simply because is has a diesel like performance. Ford has discontinued these V-10 engines for 2011 F-Series Super Duty pickups and they have been replaced by 2 valve 6.2 liter V-8 engines. The company is also keeping the ten cylinder mill for F53 motorhome chassis and F-550, F-450 chassis cabs. Ford announced that they will be offering V-10 has a new option for 2012 F-750 and F-650 cabs.
Ford F-650 and F-750 today are given along with Cummins inline 6 diesel engine which is a variation of the similar 6 cylinder oil burner which is offered in Ram HD vehicles. By putting in V-10 for Class 6 and Class 7 trucks, Ford has become the only company to give gas powered automobile in every class of truck from 1 to 7.
GM offered 8.1-liter V-8 gas engine for the medium duty Chevrolet Kodiak chassis cabs and GMC TopKick, but its production was stopped last year. Ford director Len Dulca says that no other company gives such solutions and options for truck buyers. He also said that a lot of municipalities and businesses will be glad that the gas engine is now avaiable in medium duty segment. These vehicles can be ordered from late 2011
